If you are in a conversation with others who don't go to the Kingdom hall, instead of enjoying it, you are trying to think of ways to show how bad the world is and that God's Kingdom is the only solution...
you are a JW.
you might be a jehovah's witness if, to not feel guilty on saturday morning, you ride in a car with a group of adults driving in circles around town taking turns to get out one at a time to knock on a door that you hoped no one would answer.. you might be a jw if going on vacation meant going to a summer regional or district assembly where you did not need to pack shorts, tennis shoes, or tank tops.
.
you might be a jw if for lunch at the summer convention you and your family ate breakfast food from the holiday inn where you are staying for the summer assembly.. you might be a jw if the first thing that you think about when waking up in the morning is that it is meeting night.. you might be a jw if you introduce a person to another jw, not by the person's name by as my bible study.. you might be a jw if you don't celebrate christmas but will take the money from your employer to not come to work so that you can celebrate it..

i am not a jw.
my mother in law is.
my husband is not a jw, but he did attend with her through his child years and teen years but stopped once he was 15. his mother never made him or his siblings attend if they did not want to.i am trying to understand this organization to understand my mother in law better.
From a Witness point of view, the Two Witness rule has been established by the Watchtower, as being the only way to be fair and just to a person that has been accused. It has been repeatedly mentioned in study articles.
This of course, only makes it a paradise for a child molester. Without a confession from the molester or an eyewitness to the act besides the child, the elders will simply shrug their shoulders and say it's up to God to do something. Most witnesses, although frustrated, will do what the Watchtower says. They also will be hesitant to call the authorities because they have been repeatedly told that doing so, would bring reproach on God's name.
The other sad thing is, the Elders would happily consider a second child victim as another witness. So one child's testimony is not enough, you have to wait till another child is molested. Then the Elders are satisfied - sometimes.
During the Australian Royal Commission's examination of the Two Witness Rule, Angus Stewart for the ARC, brought out that there was an example found in the same account of the two witnesses, that only had one witness. A woman that was raped out in the fields and had screamed - tho no one heard her - successfully testified against the rapist and he was killed for his act. One of the Governing Body (one of eight men that lead the religion) wouldn't directly answer why they couldn't use that example in the case of a child being molested and testifying as one witness and being believed.
Most witnesses will not go against what the Governing Body says in this regards. It would be like going against the pope if you were Catholic. The reaction you will get if you try to make a point with a JW over this is - fear and strong denial.
The Governing Body, knowing full well that the ARC proceedings would show them to be an organization that didn't report child abuse by calling the police, recently put out another video saying they would always stick to the Two Witness rule. This was their way of making it about the Bible and that they were being righteous for sticking with that rule. So they couldn't be blamed for letting pedophiles remain in the congregation (and molesting more children) because hey, there was only one witness to the crime.
A few things that Witnesses have been told:
So as you can see, most JW's are guided to believe that the Two Witness rule is the best way to deal with any case, including child sexual abuse. They would have difficulty believing any thing that is negative about it. But it also worth a shot to try to help them see the situation in a new way.
Hope your efforts work.
my husband was df 3 years ago.
i still attended meetings but not regularly and for the past 10 months i have not attended any at all.
my husband wanted to get reinstated until maybe a few months ago when i started to help him to wake up.
For those who still believe in the bible, going to a friendly church helps. Some have gone on to do volunteer work that really helps people. And like the previous posters say, find some hobbies and meet people.
It is different than being in a closed environment. JW's are taught to be nice to all other JW's even if they are mean, snobby etc. So most make an effort to get along with everyone. But like my sister and I found out, that kind of "lets be friends" right off the bat at work, actually causes suspicion and makes people draw back. So there is adjustments in how to deal with the real world.
I hope your counseling goes well.
i have come to the conclusion that there is no way for me to ever leave.
although i have some friends at work, my whole social structure are witnesses.
even if i move congregations, my parents have contacts everywhere who will tell them if i’m not active.
You sound like you are going on a down swing. But if you take a breath and realize you have time to sort things out, it will be ok. I didn't have to spend a long time in the "truth" when I found it wasn't so I can see it would be difficult.
There are many here in your situation and they can give you some good advice.
Just by posting here, you can relieve a lot of stress. Hang in there
i am interested in the approach this forum takes to money.
apart from sex, (which i am quite relaxed about) it seems to me that wealth is the surest divider between those who are moral, and those who are not.. it seems jesus thought so, also.
luke 16:19-31 kjv describes well enough his dusty attitude to the rich who do not succour the poor.. and this world has many poor: so many, it might seem that we can do nothing about it, and twist his words; 'the poor ye shall have always with you, but me, ye shall not have always.
understanding action musicin the past vs the present______.
in the golden and silver ages of hollywood, composers with classical, romantic era training created action music out of thematic (tuneful) motifs.
these catchy 'tunes' were used as 'bricks' whilst the orchestral techniques of arranging and orchestration were the 'mortar' binding and building the overall structure towering above mere image+sound effects.the result gave an audience something i will call "an intellectual access" to onscreen "meaning" in the story.what's that?a "tune" is an organizing principle.a tune has a beginning, middle, and end.a tune "tells" us something.what remains is "the way it is spoken.
I've loved many movie soundtracks because of the emotions that are embodied in the music. But classical music for plays, is much the same way such as Debussy's Afternoon of a faun. John Williams often built his music on classical "bones". I guess it can't be helped that sometimes snippets of it ended up in his music.
Then there's Horner that "borrowed" heavily from Prokofiev for a lot of his movie music.
Narnia isn't that old.

Lord of the Rings had great music. But I agree, the few movies I've watched lately, don't have sweeping scores that stand on their own. You can't listen to it and know where it was in a movie like a score from Williams.
i've noticed in the past 10 years that the social support that used to be available in the congs, a shoulder to cry on, elders to help with family/marriage issues these seem to have been purposely withdrawn.
counsel is even heard from the platform that the elders are not there to help people with their problems.. so first in the 80s-90s they take away the congregation get to getters and social events and now they seem to be going one step further in taking away the emotional support for people too.. this will take away an aspect that i'm sure was keeping alot of people in the borg, the community support.
if that's not there and its just about meetings and ministry how many will start to get their emotional support elsewhere?.
Della s. You also forgot the baptized male aged 10 years being over his mom and most other females.
well i got to waste another day.
for the sake of still in family i attended the circuit assembly.
they say a joy shared is doubled, and a burden shared is halved.
"The law of Christ" (ὁ νόμος τοῦ Χριστοῦ) is a New Testament phrase of uncertain meaning, found only in the Pauline Epistles at Galatians 6:2 and parenthetically (ἔννομος Χριστῷ "being under the law to Christ") at 1 Corinthians 9:21.
Answer:
Galatians 6:2 states, “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ”
(emphasis added). What exactly is the law of Christ, and how is it
fulfilled by carrying each other’s burdens? While the law of Christ is
also mentioned in 1 Corinthians 9:21,
the Bible nowhere specifically defines what precisely is the law of
Christ. However, most Bible teachers understand the law of Christ to be
what Christ stated were the greatest commandments in Mark 12:28–31,
“‘Which commandment is the most important of all?’ Jesus answered, ‘The
most important is, “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all
your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” The second
is this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” There is no other
commandment greater than these.’”
https://www.gotquestions.org/law-of-Christ.html
I guess the witnesses should change the You Shall Love your Neighbor as yourself to You shall love the dog as yourself. How many times was it explained that loving your neighbor meant a bible study with them or giving them a magazine? Not any physical help. They also bragged about fixing all the witness houses and showing the world how great they were. (if they had time, they might fix a worldly house or two, just to look generous) If I was that Wicked Catholic lady, I would have been saying to myself "Look at them feeling sorry for that dog, but what about me?"

tas anglicans to sell property for redress.
survivors of child sexual abuse in tasmania will get a payout after the anglican diocese announced the sale of more than 120 churches, halls and houses.. kaitlyn offer - australian associated press april 22, 2018 2:30pm.
Wow.
They are selling off properties to pay victims, the WT is selling of properties to pay lawyers to try to keep victims from getting any money. In the end, victims of WT do get some money, but at a great cost.
Good example to bring up in comparison to wT.
the video invitation for the 2018 convention is just creepy.
i thought it was some parody at first as it seems 'dark'.it begins with a young man being pushed whilst standing at his locker and the voice over says that 'in critical times we need courage more than ever'.
next, comes a clip of a male putting his hand on the shoulder of a female worker, the look she gives him would be enough to give him nightmares for the next year.
Wow, pathetic. I guess the being bumped in the hallway is supposed to be about bullying - which is a current topic - but it wasn't even as if the guys going past said curse words or even gave him a stare down.
And so now witnesses are going to feel extreme when a person bumps into them. I think they are encouraging witnesses to feel every incident is all about them and their religion. And in the past, they would have shown mourners at the grave sobbing while a witnesses patted them on the back and gave them a track but now it was the least shown part (and he wasn't even crying)
Just wait for the assembly parts - Sister Cleaner: I was vacuuming the floor like I always do on this job, and the Home owner touched my vacuum! But I was courageous and told him to take his hands OFF! - Wild clapping from audience - Thank You Sister Cleaner for showing us true courage in this time of The End!
